All Day Schedule Thoughts

Thursday we got our latest bread crumb of NFL offseason news as we received the NFL Schedule. I’m here to share my thoughts as how to apply this information as an ALL Day collector. There’s more than one way to skin a cat and no two collectors are the same so make sure you keep your goals in mind. I’ll be looking at it through the lens of maximizing utility throughout the season rather than just long term holding. Feel free to reach out and share your theories as I don’t think even Dapper fully knows what they are going to during in-season with All Day but speculating is half the fun!

The major assumption with All Day is that they will learn from Top Shot so with that in mind I think it’s important to look at what has been a success utility-wise in Top Shot. The biggest success unarguably has been the flash challenges which have used a wide range of criteria from stats (points, blocks, etc.) to awards (MVP) and where a player went to school. As we have seen with the playoffs, the bigger the game the more likely there is a challenge tied with it. Assumptions are always a risk but as we know risk and reward are often correlated.

Here are some ways that I am thinking about targeting specific player moments in All Day using the recently-released NFL schedule:

Standalone Games- This one is obvious but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea. Use the grid above to see when a team has primetime games. Thursday Night Football, Sunday Night Football Monday Night Football, Thanksgiving, International Games, Saturday games. A little bit of research goes a long way. BUF, SF, TB, DAL, DEN, and KC all stand out as teams that have 2 marquee games in the first four weeks of the season.

Expect Fireworks on the Field and from Dapper Out of the Gate-Labor Day Weekend is my favorite weekend of the year. Great weather, cookouts and fantasy football drafts. Like a kid on Christmas Eve, I have trouble going to sleep as I’m so excited for season to begin. This Labor Day Weekend will be no different as the NFL has some great primetime matchups for us right out of the gate. A potential Superbowl preview on 9/8 to kick things off with the Bills traveling to LA to face the Rams. Sunday Night Football has Tom Brady traveling to face the most polarizing franchise in the league. Monday Night Football has Russell Wilson’s emotional return to Seattle with his new weapons from Denver. I’d imagine All Day will have some special plans for one if not all of those games to kick off the season.

Quarterbacks & Wide Receivers- While the NFL isn’t as much of a star driven league as the NBA, the stars still get plenty of time in the sun. In the NFL, the unquestioned stars of the league are the quarterbacks but wide receivers are beginning to narrow the massive gap. One way to attack this is to target QBs and WRs in potential shoot-out games early in the season, such as DAL / TB (Week 1), BUF / LAR (Week 1), ARI / KC (Week 1), CIN / DAL (Week 2), KC / LAC (Week 2), LV / ARI (Week 2).

Schedule Inequity– No two schedules are exactly alike. See who might struggle out of the gates because of a tough road trip or a gauntlet of Super Bowl contenders earlier on and fade their moments until they get into an easier part of their schedule.

All Players on Great Teams- A noticeable difference in Top Shot and All Day is the amount of non-star players with moments on the site and many attribute this into the NFLPA’s agreement with Dapper. This is an obvious hurdle All Day must address and the easiest way to increase value and attractiveness of these moment would be to use them in some sort of challenge. A theoretical “Cheat Code” level Challenge could be “Collect every Chiefs player that touched the ball in the Chiefs victory over the Chargers on Thursday Night Football”. Long Snappers, Holders, Kick and Punt Returners value to the moon!!

What’s Good for the NFL is Good For Dapper & Vice Versa- It’s quite clear the NFL is actively looking to expand their presence internationally with the G.O.A.T. headlining the first ever NFL game in Germany. How cool would it be if all collectors with a Tom Brady moment were entered into a raffle for a private jet trip to Munich to watch TB12 & the Bucs light up the Seahawks? Then think about how easy that would be to market. During the NFL Draft the first game that was announced was Chiefs/ Chargers as TNF moves to Amazon Prime Video via a historic 11 year agreement this year. There are some great matchups on Thursdays (The Owners Club is going to be wild this year), arguably none better than the 9/15 inaugural streaming matchup. Keep up with what the NFL is pushing as there is a decent chance Dapper will be closely aligned.
