Having three games on Thanksgiving made Week 12 an abnormal slate for Owners Club members. Let’s dive right in.

Main Event Winner: “itsmattmobruh”

Buffalo Quarterbacks: We knew that Buffalo quarterbacks had a solid score from Thanksgiving night, but that score ended up leading the position in Week 12. In general, the top quarterback scores were much lower than normal last week, so the Buffalo quarterbacks card was a real difference maker for “itsmattmobruh” and a number of other users.

Tampa Bay Running Backs: This groups five touchdown day in Indianapolis broke the slate, and this contrarian decision is the primary reason that “itsmattmobruh” is headed to Miami a few weeks from now. While this was a contrarian move it was also a logical one, as Indianapolis vs Tampa Bay was a strong game environment where all of the position groups in this contest had a path to difference making success.

Dallas Wide Receivers: I was not expecting to see this card in this week’s Main Event winning lineup, as we already knew that Las Vegas wide receivers had a higher score than this group on Thanksgiving. With that said, playing the known entity has been an advantage for many of our users throughout the season. As an example, the Dallas wide receivers significantly outperformed the normally strong Tampa Bay wide receiver group last week.

Buffalo Tight Ends: We knew this card finished below Dallas tight ends, but the margin was only a few points and a 15.2 score at the tight end position is really quite strong in The Owners Club.

Cincinnati Defense: This was another sharp play as Cincinnati beat Pittsburgh 24-10 earlier in the year and Pittsburgh’s offense has been underwhelming for most of the season. I was not expecting this game to be a blowout, but this was another difference maker for “itsmattmobruh.” Big respect on the bold lineup choices.

Side Hustle Winner: “No Username”

Tampa Bay Running Backs and San Francisco Wide Receivers: This was an interesting pairing as it involved position groups in two of the best game environments on the slate that aren’t traditionally top performers in The Owners Club. This was a good week to be contrarian, and that decision paid off for our users that rolled out the Tampa Bay running backs card this week. San Francisco wide receivers got 66 yards rushing and 2 scores out of Deebo Samuel while Brandon Aiyuk added 91 yards receiving and Jauan Jennings added 24 yards and a score. That’s a pretty unconventional way for a wide receiver group to provide a contest winning score, but it is another example that any card has the potential to have a difference making spike week.

Lowball Winner: “thescottishbear”

Tennessee Quarterbacks: Given the injuries to Tennessee’s best skill position players and their matchup on the road in New England, this was a solid play for Lowball.

New Orleans Running Backs: We already knew this card performed poorly on Thanksgiving night.

Philadelphia Wide Receivers: Philadelphia has become more run-heavy in recent weeks and the strength of New York’s defense is their secondary. This was my favorite play in this lineup.

Minnesota Tight Ends: This group has been very hit or miss throughout the season, and they missed for fantasy purposes in San Francisco last week.

Las Vegas Defense: We already knew this card only produced 2 points on Thanksgiving in Dallas.

Island of Misfit Cards: “ab32”

Dallas Tight Ends plus Miami Defense: I had this pairing in my primary Main Event lineup, where we knew that Dallas tight ends already had a high enough score to potentially lead the week at the position while Miami has been playing strong defense recently and they were hosting a volatile Carolina offense. With that said, the Miami defense was an aggressive play with the known high score of the Dallas tight ends card.

Various Things

I was not expecting the majority of top performing Main Event lineups to be littered with quarterbacks that played on Thanksgiving. But this was a good week to take the known entities at quarterback, wide receiver, and tight end if you had access to certain cards. It was also a good week to be more contrarian at running back and defense.

Thanksgiving is a very unique week in The Owners Club, as we’ll know the outcomes of three different games. Next year it might make sense to target some of the better offenses that play on Thanksgiving much earlier in the season.

Thursday Night New Orleans vs Dallas

New Orleans has not committed to who will start at quarterback on Thursday night, but Taysom Hill (who is dealing with a foot injury) has been getting first team reps at practice. Alvin Kamara has seen limited practices and if he can go the New Orleans running backs group could be in for a nice volume swell here, though it does appear that both of their offensive tackles continue to be at least banged up as both are questionable. It looks like Dallas could be back to full strength on offense here. If they are I would prefer their quarterback and wide receiver group over their running game as New Orleans has played pretty stout run defense throughout the season. With that said, Dallas running backs could see strong collective volume and are generally one of the better options at the position.
