The high performers on the Thursday night game made this a unique week in The Owners Club. Let’s dive right in.

Main Event Winner: “herzigbrian”

New York (American) Quarterbacks: We knew this group went off last Thursday, to the point that they were close to an absolute lock for your “best” Main Event lineup this week.

Indianapolis Running Backs: If you had this card this was an absolute must play after last Thursday. If you had the option of pairing this card with the New York (American) quarterbacks, the decision from there was do you play that pairing in the Side Hustle, as the foundation of your Main Event lineup, or with a different quarterback option to try and be contrarian.

New York (American) Wide Receivers: Stacking this group with the New York quarterbacks was very reasonable, bordering on a non-decision given this groups strong performance last Thursday. But this was much more of a decision where the New York quarterbacks and the Indianapolis running backs were among the biggest must plays of the season to date in The Owners Club. This is also another example of how any card has the potential to be a difference maker on any given slate in our contests.

New York (American) Tight Ends: Now this play was the decision if you had access to all of the high performing options from last Thursday, as this score was much more beatable than the top quarterback, running back, and wide receiver options from last Thursday. Ultimately, playing the four best options from last Thursday made the defense you chose the biggest differentiator in this lineup. These collective decisions resulted in a big win and a trip to Miami for “herzigbrian,” and I likely would have went this route myself if I had access to all four of these options.

New England Defense: This one was the difference maker in the Main Event as New England’s defense had an expected field day against Sam Darnold’s struggling Carolina offense.

Side Hustle Winner: “BetTheHaus”

New York (American) Quarterbacks with Indianapolis Running Backs: “BetTheHaus” returned with some high-end cashes in numerous tournaments this week, while bringing home the win in the Side Hustle by stacking the known entities from last Thursday night. “BetTheHaus” edged out 16 other users that deployed the same pairing with the lowest serial number.

Lowball Winner: “kelvinp4g”

Jacksonville Quarterbacks: Really good play here as struggling first overall pick Trevor Lawrence had a pretty uphill battle here against a strong Buffalo pass defense.

Jacksonville Running Backs: Stacking this with the Jacksonville quarterbacks card is among my favorite correlation plays on the season so far. A lesson to be taken from this play is that if you think an offense might struggle to score in a matchup stacking their quarterback with their running backs gives you close to complete exposure to that offense’s lack of yardage accumulation and touchdown equity in our Lowball contests.

New York (National) Wide Receivers: Betting against this volatile offense this season has been a pretty good decision most weeks. I likely would have played something other than the New York wide receivers with the rest of this lineup, but “kelvinp4g” made a number of winning decisions in this lineup, including this one.

Buffalo Tight Ends: This was a very sharp play as Dawson Knox was out and Buffalo tight ends have been a boom or bust kind of unit throughout the Josh Allen era. This card also serves as a bring back of sorts with the Jacksonville offense stack at quarterback and running back, except the goal here in Lowball is failure rather than explosive offensive production.

New York (American) Defense: We knew they only scored a single point last Thursday, so they were the layup defensive play in Lowball this week.

Island of Misfit Cards Winner: “b6wong”

Los Angeles (American) Tight Ends with New England Defense: The New England defense was an expected difference maker in our tournaments this week, but pairing that rock solid play with the much more volatile Los Angeles tight ends group was a very fearless decision that paid off big here. As I discussed in last week’s Friday analysis, I was high on the Los Angeles passing game in Philadelphia, but I largely overlooked their tight ends group despite that general enthusiasm. I like to make a habit of pointing out situations where one of our users makes a sharp play that has some overlooked upside. This is one of those instances.

Various Things

Most of the top finishers in the Main Event and Side Hustle deployed the New York (American) quarterbacks with the Indianapolis running backs that both already smashed last Thursday. “Marcusc777” probably takes this slate down with his Los Angeles (American) quarterbacks plus tight ends stack along with the Arizona running backs (who also smashed) if Indianapolis vs New York happens on Sunday instead of Thursday.

Similarly, “EvanJones” finished 17th behind 16 New York (American) quarterbacks stacked with the Indianapolis running backs in the Side Hustle. “EvanJones” played the Indianapolis running backs, but went for the home run swing at quarterback with Baltimore likely knowing that there would be a ton of the New York and Indianapolis pairings in this tournament. I absolutely loved the aggressive move here, and the Baltimore quarterbacks got very close to beating the New York (American) score at the position.

Thursday Night Baltimore at Miami

We know that the Baltimore quarterbacks card has considerable upside and that is no different this week in Miami. Going into this matchup I’d view the Baltimore tight ends card more optimistically than their wide receivers card, as the strength of Miami’s defense is at cornerback. With that said, this could also be an above average spot for both the Baltimore running backs and defense as 7-point road favorites in Miami this Thursday. All of the Miami options are volatile this week, with their quarterbacks, running backs, and defense having some Lowball potential against Baltimore. The Miami tight ends card has been pretty solid so far this season and likely has the best chance of being useable in our contests that reward higher scores.
